What is ORTHOFLEX Forte®
ORTHOFLEX Forte® is an injectable viscoelastic solution containing 30 mg/2 ml hyaluronic acid, presented in a ready-to-use sterile syringe, to be administered intra-articularly in the treatment of osteoarthritis, leading to improvement of joint function.
ORTHOFLEX Forte® is a viscosupplementation product that is a safe, effective and well-established treatment for osteoarthritis (OA) and involves injecting a hyaluronic acid-based solution into the affected synovial joint.
In joints, natural hyaluronic acid has several functions, including:
• Lubrication. Hyaluronic acid binds well to water and produces a viscous, jelly-like liquid. This viscous fluid provides lubrication and also acts as a cushion in the joint.
• Cartilage and bone growth. Hyaluronic acid helps the growth and development of joint cartilage and bone.
Reducing inflammation. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in reducing joint inflammation and pain caused by injury or tissue degeneration.
What are the indications for treatment with ORTHOFLEX Forte®?
ORTHOFLEX Forte® is indicated in osteoarthritis, a joint disease characterized by a progressive deterioration of cartilage and bone deformation, with symptoms such as knee pain, stiffness, joint limited mobility, cracks, swelling.
ORTHOFLEX Forte® is indicated as a viscoelastic reinforcement or replacement of synovial fluid in the human knee joint.
ORTHOFLEX Forte® is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The actions of the product are lubrication and mechanical support.
What are the effects of ORTHOFLEX Forte® treatment?
ORTHOFLEX Forte® has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and chondroprotective effects, stimulates the synthesis of proteoglycan, collagen and hyaluronic acid and facilitates the evacuation of cartilaginous residues.
When joint surfaces rub against each other, hyaluronic acid molecules from the synovial fluid act as a lubricant, protecting the joint surfaces from mechanical damage.
Under joint loading pressure, hyaluronic acid acts as a shock absorber, thus protecting the cartilage from compression trauma.
